The second transnational meeting (TPM2) took place on the 12th and 13th of September and was hosted by the Vilnius College (VIKO), in Lithuania.
In the second gathering of SIMOnS, the team had met at the Faculty of Technology and Design of Vilnius College (VIKO), in Lithuania, to discuss the overall progress of the project after having submitted the periodic report on August this year.
The two-day meeting was held during the 12th and 13th of September, having covered all work packages, with particular focus on the educational content production (WP3.3) and the design and development of the mobile application (W.4.2).
Members from Italy, Greece, Lithuania, Portugal, and Finland attended the event that was wrapped up with important contributions to start producing the content and developing the features of the app. Online presence of the project, especially on social media, was also highlighted to ensure an active role in digital communities.
To help achieving the projects’ breakthroughs, Simon, an important “special guest” was invited to the meeting on the second day, which helped the team stay in a good vibe, despite his enigmatic silence.
The project’s borrowed brand mascot was purchased by a member of the UCLV in a visit to Trakai, the old capital of Lithuania.
The built-on-water city is a popular tourist destination as it is surrounded by lakes and an island castle. Its historical value started in the 13th century and was the residence of many communities, especially the Karaim, which is a Turkic-speaking religious and Jewish ethnic group.
Despite the rainy weather, the Lithuanian partners made sure all members were having a great time by showing the town around and taking the team to a nearby traditional restaurant where local meals were served.
The team enjoyed having delicious lithuanian food, such as the Kibinai (stuffed pastry with meat), Kepta duona snacks (pan-fried bread with cheese and garlic), Cepelinai, or the "Karališkoji" kopūstienė (royal cabbage soup served in a dark bread).
The team also had the opportunity to visit the facilities of the Faculty of Design and Technology which provides a diversity of courses and tailored classrooms: from television studios and movie theatre to design laboratories and automobile workstations, with Toyota sponsored educational cars.
The faculty was originally from the Vilnius Design and Technology College (VDTKO) but has recently suffered a major reorganisation due to the merge of two higher education institutions in the city. This has resulted in many internal changes, as well as a new branding image in the now called Vilnius College (VIKO).
